The warehouse retailer is stocking over-the-counter hearing aids that work with a smartphone app.

Costco has started selling over-the-counter hearing aids at a fraction of the cost of traditional devices. The new Kirkland Signature OTC hearing aids cost $499 for a pair, compared to $2,000-6,000 for traditional hearing aids from an audiologist.
These hearing aids are designed for adults with mild to moderate hearing loss. If you have severe hearing loss, you'll still want to see an audiologist. But for many people, OTC devices can make a real difference without the high cost.
Unlike traditional hearing aids that require professional fitting, these devices are "self-fitting." You download an app to your smartphone, take a quick hearing test, and the hearing aids automatically adjust to your needs.
You can find them at Costco stores nationwide or order online at Costco.com. You don't need a prescription. Costco membership isn't required to buy OTC hearing aids, though members get a discount.
